Rugby Injury Concerns

 

We all know that rugby is a fun and exciting contact sport.  But we also have heard some concern from players and parents that rugby might be "to rough" and the players might get hurt.

Since rugby is a full contact sport, yes, sometimes players get hurt.  However, there are certain techniques and drills that we do during practice to minimize injuries during games as well as train the player the proper way to tackle in order to minimize the risk of injury to themselves and others.

There are some studies that have been performed to show the rate of rugby injuries compared to other full contact sports.  If you or someone you know is concerned with the injuries that might happen while playing rugby, I encourage you to read the following articles.  That is not to say you won't get hurt, but compared to other contact sports, this is where rugby ranks.
